When it comes to photography I would say that I have one foot squarely planted in the past and the other in candid, documentary photography. I have always loved black and white photography for its classic and timeless nature, it has been a consistent part of my photography. While to some black and white photography is considered a style to be applied when the image calls for it, for me it is my way of looking at the world.
It’s an approach and philosophy that lends well to the photographing of children, the main focus of my work. It is my belief that even the most ordinary of moments can be elevated into works of art and beauty. Photographed in this way, without artifice or gimmick, children are left to shine. The overall effect I feel is sincere and authentic, making the photographs all the more memorable and cherishable.
